I work with sustainably harvested willow which is first soaked to make it supple and then hand woven to form a unique sculpture which depending on the complexity of design may take 2-3 weeks to complete. Occasionally a steel frame may be used and a reclaimed timber mount can add to the beauty of the piece. I am available to work on bespoke commissions as required.

Preserving your willow sculpture

Your willow sculpture is made of a totally natural material and it will require a little care and attention depending on the environment it is placed in.  If situated outside I recommend treating it with preservative every 3-6 months in order to increase its lifespan to possibly 10 years before it may need repairing. Some people even bring them indoors in the winter but my herd of deer look lovely in the snow! The traditional method is to use a 50/50 mix of Linseed Oil and Turps which can be found in DIY stores. Mix well in a spray bottle and spray liberally – outside and in a sheltered space! It only takes a few moments to do and this will help to preserve your sculpture, lengthen its lifespan and give it a lovely sheen.
